It’s been an extraordinary inaugural season for Chicago Women’s Elite Cycling.
In addition to racing in 24 events and capturing 6 professional podium finishes, CWEC hosted 7 rider clinics with 145 participants including junior, beginner, intermediate, and professional women cyclists. Through our efforts, we’re deepening and growing Chicago women’s cycling with elite racing opportunities, development clinics, mentorship programs, open discussion forums, and much more.

It all starts with heading down to JustIce to pick up CWEC’s mechanic for the week-end, Bobby Kauffman. While Bobby collects his tools and other equipment, JustIce’s very own ice-master, Rosanna Lloyd, gave me a tour of their ice palace… tres cool – literally and figuratively. The ladies of CWEC took a road trip over to Zanesfield, OH this weekend to race the first annual Women’s Midwest Road Race Championship. Thanks to Base Tri Fitness and Lady Gnar Shredders for a super sweet race on a course where Greg LeMond had his training rides! It is a fantastic event and we encourage all lady shredders of the Midwest (OH, MI, IN, KY, IL, WI, MO, IA, PA, WV, and MN) to tear it up next year!! Podium boys are also welcome.
